Delivering Good Eats with All Faiths Pantry

HandsOn volunteers help deliver grocery bags to low income senior citizens and persons with limited mobility in a local apartment building. Modifications to the project may be made to accommodate volunteers with limited mobility. The mission of All Faiths Pantry is to deliver groceries to elderly people and others with challenges to mobility, each and every month, at no cost to recipients. Things to remember: We will be caravanning from the warehouse to the apartment building (less than a mile) to deliver the groceries so please leave all valuables in your vehicle. Please bring a waterbottle as it can be very hot in the apartment building. Age Limits: This project is for volunteers age 16 and up. All volunteers under 18 must fill out and bring a youth waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Special Driving Directions: The warehouse is located on the corner of Memphis Ave and W 48th St. The entrance to the warehouse is accessible from W 48th St through the driveway, through the doors with awnings. Street parking is available along W 48th St.

Get Serving at University Settlement

HandsOn volunteers will help serve the community meal, pack grocery bags, and serve clients in the Hunger Center at University Settlement. Modifications to the project may be made to accommodate volunteers with limited mobility. The mission of University Settlement is to offer the individuals and families we serve resources by which they can learn, grown, and thrive that meet the evolving needs of the Broadway/Slavic Village Community. Age Limits: This project is for volunteers ages 13 and up. Volunteers under the age of 16 must volunteer alongside a parent, guardian, or group leader. All volunteers under 18 must fill out and bring a youth waiver form signed by a parent or guardian. Things to Remember: Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes. It is advised to leave your valuables either at home or securely in your vehicle. Park in the parking lot or on Czar Ave. Meet the Volunteer Leader in the lobby of the building. Where to Meet your Leader: Buzz in the door and sign in at the front desk. Then turn around and walk straight back from the office into the hunger pantry. Your leader will be waiting for you there. Special Driving Directions: University Settlement is a green building that looks like a house/cottage.

Donation Sorting at MedWish International

HandsOn volunteers help sort, label and pack medical materials to be distributed to underserved populations worldwide. Modifications to the project may be made to accommodate volunteers with limited mobility. MedWish International is a non-profit organization committed to the recovery and recycling of donated medical supplies area healthcare providers must discard. These life-saving supplies are made available to those providing medical care in developing countries throughout the world. Things to Remember: Dress comfortably in clothes you are willing to get dirty. Wear closed toe shoes, and leave valuables in your vehicle. Some heavy lifting may be required. Age Limits: This project is for volunteers age 13 and up. Volunteers under the age of 16 must volunteer alongside a parent, guardian, or group leader. All volunteers under 18 must fill out and bring a youth waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Where to Meet Your Leader: New volunteers will meet in the orientation room - first door on the left once you enter the building. Returning volunteers will proceed to the second floor bulk sorting area using the staircase - first door on the right once you enter the building. Special Driving Directions: The warehouse is at the intersection of Payne Ave and E. 31st St. Parking is availble along E. 31st St or in the parking lot across from the buildling along E. 31st St. Enter the building through the door beneath the blue awning.

Things to Remember: We will be packing bags in a warehouse. Dress in layers. Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes. Where to Meet your Leader: Meet at the corner of Memphis Ave and W 48th St. at the entrance to the warehouse Special Driving Directions: The warehouse is located where on the corner of Memphis Ave and W 48th St. The entrance to the warehouse is accessible from W 48th St through the driveway, through the doors with awnings. Street parking is available along W 48th St.

Games Galore with Veterans

HandsOn volunteers will participate in an evening of games with male and female veterans at the Veterans Domiciliary. Games include: board games, chess, checkers, card games, and dominoes. Modifications to the project may be made to accommodate volunteers with limited mobility. The Veterans Domiciliary, located on the Wade Park Veterans Affairs Medical Center campus, is a state of the art residential care facility that combines rehabilitative clinical services with supportive case management services for homeless veterans. Based on the therapeutic community model, Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), provides a range of rehabilitative care and support to foster veterans’ functional independence and develop a mutual support network with fellow veterans. Volunteers of America is a national, non-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. Things to Remember: It is advised to leave your valuables either at home or securely in your vehicle. Age Limits: This project is for volunteers age 16 and up. All volunteers under 18 must fill out and bring a youth waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Special Driving Directions: Volunteers should park in the free parking garage attached to the building and enter through the front entrance.
