HandsOn NEO creates, manages, and leads signature volunteer projects for 7 annual National Days of Service in greater Cleveland. These Days of Service align volunteers and corporations with millions of volunteers across the United States and thousands of volunteers in Northeast Ohio. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (MLK Day): January
MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community. HandsOn engages volunteers throughout the weekend of the King holiday. Get Your HandsOn The Dream!
Youth Volunter Corps Day: March
Every day, youth all over the U.S. and Canada make a difference in their communities through Youth Volunteer Corps. We set aside one day each year to celebrate all that these Youth Volunteers accomplish every day.
National Volunteer Week (NVW): April
NVW is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to commemorate this signature week of volunteer recognition.
Global Youth Service Day (GYSD): April
The Annual Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) highlights the contributions of our youth in making the world a better place. Youth activities demonstrate how each and every one of us can make a difference in our world. HandsOn Northeast Ohio serves as a Lead Agency for this national day engaging youth in multiple NEO counties.
Earth Day: April 22nd
Each year, Earth Day marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Earth Day works to promote environmental awareness all over the world.
September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance: September 11th
This National Day of Service and Remembrance honors the lives of those lost or injured in the attacks and pays tribute to those who rose to serve their fellow citizens.
Make A Difference Day (MDDay): 4th Saturday in October
MDDay is an all-encompassing national celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. The annual event takes place on the 4th Saturday of every October and 2013 will serve as a national day of doing good.
National Family Volunteer Day (NFVD):
Saturday before Thanksgiving Holiday
NFVD kicks off the holiday season with giving and service. It is commemorated annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. HandsOn will provide families and youth with various mini-service projects that are educational, age appropriate (for volunteers 5 and up) and that benefit local non-profits.
