TeamWorks has landed!

TeamWorks is a volunteer program for 10-12 people that fuses education, team building, reflection, and service into a unique opportunity to better understand issues, organizations and agencies in greater detail over a short period.

We here at Hands On Northeast Ohio know service. We also know Spring Fever! That's why, in celebration of Earth Day and National Volunteer Week in April, we are launching a national program (TeamWorks) to get you outdoors and in the dirt, for a fun-filled ride of learning and service. See the anatomy of a landfill. Clean up local trails, rivers and more. Families with children 10 and up are encouraged to sign up. Youth 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. You DO NOT have to be an oriented Hands On volunteer to join this TeamWorks team!

3:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Landfill Tour
Ever wonder what happens to your trash after you take it out? Think a landfill is heaps of garbage and nothing more? Get ready for some answers and surprises as we tour a local Waste Management facility with Kathleen Rocco, Education Specialist at the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District.

Get tips on how to shop green at 3 local stores on the west side. More information TBD

Tuesday, June 10, 2008
5:30 pm – 7:00 pm: Bike Ride and Closing Meeting
Take a short bike tour of the Ohio City area. Then spend time over food to recap our eco-experience, lessons learned and options to continue your journey in green service in our community. You can then choose to cap the experience off with a trip to the movies.

OPTIONAL: Movie Night –“An Inconvenient Truth”
